Liverpool Range District celebrates dedicated members

Summary

More than 25 members of the RFS Liverpool Range District were recognised for their dedication and achievements at a special ceremony at the Liverpool Range Fire Control Centre yesterday.

Nineteen Long Service Medals and one National Medal were presented to the members by RFS Deputy Commissioner Peter McKechnie.

Deputy Commissioner McKechnie said these medals, recognising more than 470 years of combined service, are a proud acknowledgement of the commitment shown by these individuals over the years.

“I know that the community is thankful for the world-class level of fire protection and assistance afforded to them by volunteers across the Liverpool Range District,” Deputy Commissioner McKechnie said.

“The members being recognised today with Long Service and National Medals range from 13 to 53 years, with a special mention of Noel Taylor who is receiving his Long Service Medal and 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th Clasps for 53 years’ service with the Quipolly Rural Fire Brigade.”

Deputy Commissioner McKechnie also awarded six National Emergency Medals, which recognise persons who rendered sustained or significant service during nationally-significant emergencies in Australia.

“Members of the Liverpool Range District rise to the challenge to protect communities every day. Notably, like so many others, we saw this commitment from members of the District during the 2019/20 fire season and during more recent widespread flooding in NSW,” Deputy Commissioner McKechnie said.

“I would like to take this time to praise all our volunteers for their ongoing efforts each and every day.

“We also thank the family, friends, employers and colleagues of all RFS volunteers. We know it takes their ongoing support and patience to assist and enable our volunteers to do what they do to save lives and property.”
