RFS returns to the Sydney Easter Show

Summary

RFS members are gearing up to embrace the fun of this year's Sydney Royal Easter Show, where they’ll be providing information on preparing your home and family for the threat of fire.

Commissioner of the RFS Rob Rogers said volunteers will not only showcase their pivotal roles in communities across NSW but will also offer essential fire safety advice and an exciting opportunity for children to experience part of what it’s like to be volunteer firefighter at the Show.

Commissioner Rogers emphasised the significance of the Easter Show as a key event to foster the connection between the city and the communities across NSW where the majority of the 70,000 RFS volunteers reside.

"The Easter Show serves as an opportunity to symbolise the unity between those in the city and our dedicated rural and regional communities,” Commissioner Rogers said.

“I urge everyone, no matter where in the state they’ve travelled to Sydney from, to show their unwavering support for the men and women who tirelessly serve our communities," Commissioner Rogers remarked.

With the Bush Fire Danger Period still in place for most of the state, Commissioner Rogers said this year’s RFS display will focus on effective property preparation against bush and grass fires.

“I encourage families to engage with RFS members, to discuss the best ways to protect and prepare their homes against bush fires, while also ensuring the kids have an enjoyable experience,” Commissioner Rogers said.

“For the younger crowd, children attending the show can capture memories by posing in the seat of a RFS firefighting vehicle and pick up their very own toy helmet, which were extremely popular at last year’s show.”

Commissioner Rogers also highlighted the RFS will provide a dedicated space for RFS members visiting the show to stop by and chat with the team.

“It’s a great opportunity for RFS members visiting the Show from across the state to come together and meet other likeminded volunteers.

The Sydney Royal Easter Show is scheduled to run from 22 March to 2 April at Sydney Olympic Park.

The RFS display is located in Hall 2 of the Home and Lifestyle Pavilion, inviting everyone to join in the fun and learn more about fire safety and community preparedness.
