Erskine Creek Fire

Summary

What’s happening tonight on the Erskine Creek Fire?

Firefighters have been working very hard today to establish control lines south of the communities of the Blue Mountains. They have been supported by heavy plant and aircraft throughout the day. This fantastic work by all agencies involved will be continuing on throughout the night.

As part of this work, crews will be undertaking back burning south of the communities along the Great Western Highway between Wentworth Falls and Woodford. Residents will see increased fire activity and firefighter presence while this essential work occurs. Firefighters will only undertake back burning when conditions are favourable and safe.

If you live in the Tablelands road area at Wentworth Falls and Woodford area immediate to the proposed back burn, you may receive a friendly knock on the door tonight from NSW State Emergency Service volunteers who are helping us inform the community about what is happening tonight and our latest newsletter

Over the next few days we will be opening up community information points to help spread the word and discuss this information with residents. We will also be having community meetings. Stay tuned for details!

Always stay aware of local conditions, and please refer to the Fires Near Me app and NSWRFS social media.
