The fire is burning in the area of Glen Alice near the Genowlan Road and south of the Capertee River in the east of the Capertee National Park, approximately 45km north of Lithgow.

The fire has burnt more than 190ha and is not yet controlled.

Current Situation

  • The fire is burning near Genowlan Road in the Glen Alice area.
  • Forecast weather conditions will see increased winds and lower humidity on today, which may see an increase in fire activity.
  • While the fire is currently burning under a winds with a westerly influence, local terrain is causing the fire to move in multiple directions, including to the north-east and north-west.
  • Waterbombing was conducted on the fireground overnight and will continue today.
  • Remote area firefighters will continue work over coming days to strengthen containment lines around the fire.

  • Residents along the Genowlan Road, Glen Alice should continue to monitor the situation.
  • Stay alert and monitor your surroundings.
