A grass and bush fire burning south of the Sturt Highway near McGeochs South Road in the area of Borambola has been contained.

The fire burnt through 629ha of land and is now under control.

Current Situation

  • The fire is burning in Borambola has been contained.
  • Hard work by firefighters from the RFS and local land holders has brought the fire under control.
  • Crews will continue to work on the fireground to strengthen containment lines, concentrating on fire effected trees.
  • Extreme Fire danger is forecast tomorrow, 5 December 2025.

This will be the final update for this fire unless conditions change.

  • People in the vicinity of Borambola may notice small pockets of bushland continue to burn within containment lines over coming days and weeks.
  • Firefighters will continue to patrol the fireground over coming days and monitor for hotspots. Only report unattended fires to Triple Zero (000).
