A bush fire is burning to the north west of Kempsey and is being controlled. The fire has burnt out 3,426 hectares.
Firefighters, supported by water bombing aircraft, are continuing a small back burn from a hard containment line on the south western side of the fire after it moved across the close containment option yesterday afternoon. There is no current threat to property.
Crews will continue to patrol and monitor the fire perimeter and a helicopter with infrared technology will fly over the fireground today to map and then target hot spots for crews to work on.
