Major Fire Updates

A bush fire is burning in the Wollemi National Park area. The fire is more than 304,000 hectares in size and is being controlled.

Current Situation

  • There are a number of fires burning in the Hawkesbury area including the Gospers Mountain bush fire which is burning between Newnes and Wisemans Ferry, Putty (St Albans) and Central Colo.
    • Thompsons Creek fire has joined Gospers Mountain Fire which is burning near Higher MacDonald, Perrys Crossing, Fernances and Mogo Creek.
    • Wrights Creek bush fire has joined into the Three Mile Fire which is burning near Perrys Crossing, Fernances and Wrights Creek.
  • Fire remains active to the west of Comleroy Road, Kurrajong, east of Newnes and Glen Alice areas and near The Ovens and Olinda Valley areas.
  • Firefighters are undertaking back burning east and west of Mountain Lagoon and between Wheelbarrow Ridge Road and the Colo River in the Central Colo Area
  • There are a number of road closures including the Putty Road between Colo and Colo Heights, Comleroy Road, Kurrajong and Wisemans Ferry Road between the ferry and Mangrove Mountain

Advice

Glen Alice, Wolgon Valley, Ovens and Olinda Valley areas

  • Continue to monitor conditions.
  • Be ready to take action in case conditions change.
  • Follow your bush fire survival plan.

Lower Portland, Central Colo, Colo, Upper Colo and Colo Heights areas

  • Continue to monitor conditions.
  • Be ready to take action in case conditions change.
  • Follow your bush fire survival plan. Leaving early is your safest option.

Boree and Wallabadah area

  • Monitor the changing conditions.
  • Know what you will do if the fire threatens.

Mountain Lagoon area

  • Continue to monitor conditions.
  • Be ready to take action in case conditions change.
  • Follow your bush fire survival plan.

Upper Macdonald, Perrys Crossing, Fernances and Mogo Creek area

  • Monitor conditions and be ready to take action.
  • Follow your bush fire survival plan.
  • If your plan is to leave or you are not prepared, leave early.

Blaxlands Ridge East and East Kurrajong area

  • Continue to monitor conditions.
  • Be ready to take action in case conditions change.
  • Follow your bush fire survival plan.

If you are threatened by fire

  • Do not be in the path of the fire.
  • Protect yourself from the heat of the fire. Wear protective clothing and footwear. Cover all exposed skin.
  • If the fire impacts, seek shelter in a solid structure to protect yourself from the heat of the fire.
  • If your life is at risk, call Triple Zero (000).

Other Information

  • People with respiratory conditions who are affected by bush fire smoke should activate their health management plan and seek medical advice if necessary. Take precautions, such as staying indoors and closing windows.
  • Stay up to date on bush fires in your area by checking the NSW RFS website, listening to your local radio station, or by calling the NSW RFS Bush Fire Information Line on 1800 679 737.
  • For information on road closures, check Live Traffic NSW. Roads may be closed without warning.
  • Monitor weather conditions and weather warnings at Bureau of Meteorology.
