Celebrations for long-serving Tubbul Rural Fire Brigade members

Summary

The RFS will today applaud the dedication and achievement of volunteers from the Tubbul Brigade with the presentation of Long Service Medals.

RFS Assistant Commissioner Jayson McKellar will join guests at the Tubbul Rural Fire Station to present awards to eight volunteers who have each provided more than 50 years of dedicated service to the local community.

“With more than 540 years of service between today’s medal recipients, there is a long list of incredible achievements amongst them as well as consistent service to the community of Tubbul,” Assistant Commissioner McKellar said.

“While all are congratulated, special mention is given to Lionel Clark and family members Kevin, Peter and Robert Coddington, who are each celebrating 65 years of service.

“It is humbling to celebrate these firefighters who dedicate most of their life to help others and I know we in the community are grateful that we can call upon you in times of need.”

Assistant Commissioner McKellar will also award one posthumous Long Service Medal to Graeme Butt, who devoted 53 years to volunteering with the Tubbul Brigade.

“I would like to take this time to praise all our volunteers for their ongoing efforts each and every day, particularly when dealing with emergencies here in the South West Slopes Zone," Assistant Commissioner McKellar said.

“We also thank the family, friends, employers and colleagues of all RFS volunteers. We know it takes their ongoing support and patience to assist and enable our volunteers to do what they do to save lives and property.”
