Celebrations for Milvale Rural Fire Brigade members

Summary

The RFS will today recognise the dedication and achievement of volunteers from the Milvale Brigade with the presentation of Long Service Medals.

RFS Assistant Commissioner Jayson McKellar will join guests at the Milvale Rural Fire Station to present awards to eight volunteers who have together given a total of more than 230 years of service to the community.

“Some of the members being recognised with Long Service Medals have provided up to 50 years of dedicated service,” Assistant Commissioner McKellar said.

“While all are congratulated, special mention is given to Michael Schiller, Paul Booker and John Booker who have each given a momentous 50 years of service.

“Between the three of them, Michael, Paul and John have held numerous positions, including Brigade President, Deputy Captain and Senior Deputy Captain.

“I would like to take this time to praise all our volunteers for their ongoing efforts each and every day, particularly when dealing with emergencies here in the South West Slopes Zone.

“We also thank the family, friends, employers and colleagues of all RFS volunteers. We know it takes their ongoing support and patience to assist and enable our volunteers to do what they do to save lives and property.”
