Initial assessment of fire affected area - Tathra

Summary

The NSW Rural Fire Service (NSW RFS) has completed an initial assessment of areas affected by the bush fire in the Tathra area at the weekend.

At this stage, the following has been confirmed:

Reedy Swamp fire (Bega Valley)

  • 69 houses destroyed
  • 39 houses damaged
  • 398 houses saved or not affected
  • 30 caravans or cabins destroyed

NSW RFS Building Impact Assessment teams have assessed approximately 90 percent of the fireground. The number of properties may change as these assessments are completed.

Schools in the area have not been impacted by the fire.

Information about specific homes which have been impacted is being provided to residents through the evacuation centre at Bega. Access to homes is being provided to residents as it is safe to do so.
