Lidster Brigade celebrates the opening of a new fire station

Summary

Lidster Brigade members today celebrated the official opening of their new station, which features infrastructure and resources that will help members provide the local community with an even higher level of protection.

Rick Colless MLC and NSW Rural Fire Service (NSW RFS) Assistant Commissioner Stuart Midgley joined brigade and community members at a ceremony to mark the occasion, where they inspected the facility and thanked them for their ongoing commitment to the Canobolas Zone and the Service.

Mr Colless said the new station will provide a permanent base for the brigade and includes two vehicle bays, amenities and a multipurpose area.

“The $245,000 station is a significant improvement, offering larger space and more adequate resources to respond to local emergencies, maintain and store firefighting equipment,” Mr Colless said.

Assistant Commissioner Stuart Midgley said the NSW RFS, working cooperatively with the state and local governments, is committed to providing volunteer firefighters with the equipment, infrastructure and resources they need to carry out the important work of protecting their local communities from fire and a diverse array of incidents.

“I would like to thank the NSW Government, Cabonne Council and Forestry Corporation for enabling this important project to be completed. Brigade members are understandably thrilled that they now have a secure space that they can call their own,” Assistant Commissioner Midgley said.

“I congratulate the Lidster Brigade members for their hard work, dedication and patience as this brand new structure has been planned and completed.

“This station is a testament to how diligently and tirelessly Lidster Brigade volunteers work continue to work, providing vital protection to the community.

“These men and women remain on-hand 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and we should be extremely proud and grateful for their contribution.”
