More than three hundred and fifty escaped hazard reductions this month alone has prompted the NSW Rural Fire Service (NSW RFS) to issue a stern reminder to landholders of their responsibilities when lighting fires.

Some of the Northern Tablelands most experienced and well seasoned volunteer firefighters were applauded today in Inverell for helping protect their local communities from fire, as a new generation of school students graduated from the NSW Rural Fire Service's cadet program.

In preparation for the celebrations around their fiftieth anniversary the members of the Blaxland Ridge Rural Fire Brigade have produced a book 'Blaxfax – the History and the People of Blaxland Ridge Rural Fire Brigade.'

The long standing commitment of volunteer firefighters from Braidwood and the surrounding areas was today acknowledged by NSW Rural Fire Service (NSW RFS) Commissioner Shane Fitzsimmons at the official opening of a brand new Fire Control Centre and Brigade station.
