The NSW Government and fire agencies are urging everyone to be aware of the bush fire risk this long weekend and to ensure they discuss and review their plans for the summer ahead.

The NSW Government’s investment in aerial firefighting was on display today with the arrival of the Large Air Tanker (LAT) C-130 Hercules ‘Thor’ in Sydney, as nine local government areas commence their bush fire season a month early.

Minster for Emergency Services Troy Grant today thanked the 48 firefighters who will travel to British Columbia to assist their Canadian counterparts battle hundreds of devastating wildfires that have forced 40,000 people to evacuate their homes.

Minister for Justice Michael Keenan and New South Wales Minister for Emergency Services Troy Grant today announced $638,741 in funding for projects that will enhance bushfire mitigation in NSW.

The NSW Government will deliver $1.48 billion for emergency services in the 2017-18 Budget, including funding to enhance warning systems for communities affected by natural disasters and to continue to engage large firefighting aircraft.
