Communities are being urged to ‘Get Ready’ for the upcoming bush fire season, with the NSW Government and NSW Rural Fire Service (NSW RFS) reminding people to prepare their homes and ensure their bush fire plan is up to date.

Volunteers and staff from the NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) and the State Emergency Service (SES) are stepping up to assist health officials with the infrastructure and logistics needed to fight the current Delta strain of COVID-19 in multiple locations across the State, including Dubbo and Wilcannia.

The achievements of young members of the NSW Rural Fire Service (NSW RFS) have been recognised today with the announcement of two Young Volunteers of the Year and the NSW Secondary School Cadet of the Year.

By the end of August diggers will have replaced planes at the northern end of Armidale Regional Airport, with Northern Tablelands MP Adam Marshall today joining NSW Rural Fire Service Chief Superintendent, Jayson McKellar to turn the first ceremonial sod and commence construction on the $6 million NSW Rural Fire Service (NSW RFS) New England Fire Control Centre (FCC).

Firefighting drones, aerial firefighting, enhanced strategic fire trails and improvements to local emergency infrastructure and equipment will be funded by an additional $268.2 million over four years as part of the NSW Government’s response to the independent NSW Bushfire Inquiry.

Residents in south-western Sydney can be assured their local emergency services are well equipped after the announcement of $10,000 grants to the Casula Rural Fire Brigade and the NSW State Emergency Services Liverpool Unit.

More than 200 new and upgraded fire trucks and vehicles will be deployed to fire brigades across the State by July 2021, as part of the NSW Government’s commitment to our frontline firefighters.
