Zone Manager - Fire Control Officer

Superintendent David Hoadley

Phone: 02 6363 6600

David is the Manager for the Canobolas Zone of the NSW Rural Fire Service.

I attended my first fire in 1969 on the property next to our farm at Barry near Blayney. I joined the Service as a staff member in 1992 as the part time FCO for Blayney Shire Council.

I was involved in the forming of the Canobolas Zone in 2001 joining the Blayney, Cabonne and Orange Districts in the initial Zone. In 2003 the process was repeated to incorporate the Cowra District in 2004. I was fortunate to be appointed as the manager of Canobolas Zone on its formation in 2001.

I live on the family property at Barry and currently run some 1200 ewes producing prime lambs. During our previous farming years we have had a merino stud, red deer and free range chickens. Currently prime lamb production fits in well with working for the NSW RFS.

During the period 1997 through to 2010 I have been involved with the Resource Consulting Services company in Queensland whereby I undertook extensive training in strategic management which included completing the Grazing for Profit School and a subsequent 10 years in the Executive Link process whereby my wife and I sit on a board comprising six businesses that focus on strategic management and lifestyle issues.

A significant learning experience in my earlier days was the role of Chairman of Directors of Surfers Beachcomber Limited during 1985 to 1987 when this company operated a 310 room hotel in Surfers Paradise during some very difficult times.
