A message from Canobolas Zone Manager Superintendent David Hoadley

Hi to Everyone in Canobolas Zone,

As you are all aware there has been significant fire activity across the State since September this year.

Many of our staff have been away for extended periods and currently Brett is in Mudgee and I am still in Glen Innes.

It is interesting to note that the Glen Innes Section 44 has been going for 110 days now. During this time there has been 579 fires that have been extinguished as well as the 15 still currently being managed.

The largest of these fires is 235,000 hectares with a perimeter of over 1,000km. Our intent is to have these extinguished and to revoke the Section 44 on the 5th January 2020.

I would like to pass on my thanks to our wonderful volunteers in Canobolas Zone and those who have been making themselves available for Region West Strike Teams since September to assist Northern Region.

This dedication and commitment with the recent daily deployments to Mudgee to assist our neighbours is to be commended and I congratulate you all.

To hear that we had 12 tankers deployed to Mudgee yesterday from Brigades across our Zone makes me very proud of your efforts and dedication. I believe that this is a true reflection of the excellent relationships that we have developed in our Zone and this is the foundation of what we do in Canooblas Zone and that makes us different from the rest.

To our staff I say thank you.

Everyone has stood up to the plate and you have all made an outstanding contribution to the fire fighting effort and Canobolas Zone can hold its head high as a major contributor.

Those who remain at home bear a huge burden in the organisation of strike teams, doing duty and on call as well as attending to local incidents. It has been a busy time and everyone is deserving of a rest.

Thank you team, I really appreciate your efforts.

Unfortunately we were unable to organise a Christmas get together this year but I am sure we will make up for that after the fire season activity.

I would like to wish everyone the very best for the Christmas season and please enjoy the time you can with your families and most importantly stay safe.

Thank you again everyone, congratulations, well done, you can be proud of what you have contributed.

Best Regards,
David
