Moorbel Fire brigade’s heartfelt thanks

Summary

Letter to the editor in the Cowra Guardian

Dear Sir/Madam,

Moorbel Rural Fire Brigade wishes to thank

the Canowindra (and beyond) community for

their generosity in fundraising efforts over the last

few weeks. As many will be aware the Brigade

shed was broken into and set alight destroying

everything including the shed, two trucks, tools,

clothing and other items including a fridge, esky's

and many other smaller items right down to

  1. Whilst the shed and trucks are insured the

smaller tools were not (which was a surprise to

the brigade) and these fundraising efforts will go

a long way towards re-equipping the brigade.

We would like to thank many people and

organisations including:

The Canowindra Players for putting on an

extra fundraising show raising about $3,000 at the

Services Club.

The following organisations who donated to

the raffle prizes: Federation Fotos, Belubula

Butchery, Lawrence's IGA, Barry Burn's Garage,

The Canowindra Trading Post, Canowindra Post

Office, Canowindra Bottle Shop, Canowindra

Pharmacy, K&H Interiors, Deli Lama, Services

and Citizens Club, Kinselas Farm Supplies, Taste

Canowindra and the Canowindra Newsagency.

* The Henry Lawson Theatre Company of

Werrington (in Western Sydney) for donating

$500

* The landholders and community members

who have donated money. (We won't mention

names here but thank you!)

* The NSW Rural Fire Service who quickly

organised another truck and have been extremely

helpful throughout this process.

RM McClintocks for generously donating an

esky which will replace one of those stolen.

* The Bulli Brigade who have lent us a Cat 1

to cover us in the mean time and Billimari who

have loaned us a Cat7.

* The SES and Cabonne Council for

organising space in their shed for the borrowed

truck.

* The police who have been very helpful with

their on-going investigations

* Lastly but certainly not least we'd also like

to acknowledge and thank Ian Guilot and Robyn

Wilkinson who both generously gave of their time

in deciding to organise the wonderful fundraiser

of which wouldn't of happened without their

efforts.

We have a great community that have rallied

behind us and would welcome any new members

to come to our AGM on the 20th of August at

7.00pm at the Services Club.

Regards

Moorbel Rural Fire Brigade.
