Suspicious Fires in the Canobolas Zone

Summary

There have been some deliberately lit fires in the Canobolas Zone and we are after the public's help.

On Wednesday night the Lidster, Towac and March Brigade's responded to two separate fires.

Lidster and Towac attended fires in the Canobolas State Forest. These fire's were deliberately lit, one after the other by unknown sources.

March Brigade attended an abandoned vehicle which had been set alight, the arsonist then proceeded to set another fire further along. March has had 5 deliberately lit fires over the last two days,  2 Wednesday and 3 yesterday.

They were all extinguished very quickly, however it could have been a very different outcome. The ground fuels are high and dry. Compared to this time last year, which saw the area  receive rainfall of 291mm, this  year we have had rainfall of 6.5mm.

Fire Investigation has been commenced at both fire's.

How you can help

If you see something that looks out of place, this may be what Police are looking for.

If you can, record the details of vehicles such as the make, model and registration of suspicious vehicles. Also take note of the appearance of anyone acting suspiciously.
