Summary

At 15:06 21/12/2013, Canobolas Duty Officers received a 000 call for a grass fire south of Gooloogong. Arriving crews found a rapidly moving fire moving through paddocks.

Aircraft were immediately requested and deployed from both Cowra and Parkes. In addition, plant was requested urgently and Cowra Council rapidly deployed graders and bulk water carts to the fire ground to support our volunteers.

As of this time (1900), crews are continuing to work on active fire as well as blacking a large amount of burning timber.

The cause of the fire has been determined as being started by a header carrying out harvesting operations. Losses include the header, a tractor & a quadbike.

In addition, a hayshed as well as a woolshed & small toolshed, with tools, have also been confirmed as lost.

Crews are still on the fire-ground blacking out large amounts of burning timber. At this time, Kangarooby Road remains closed due to burning trees falling.
