New Cumnock Rural Fire Brigade station

Summary

On Wednesday 30th October 2019 the new Category 4B Double Bay Fire Station was officially opened.

The new station was opened by Minister for Police and Emergency Services, The Hon. David Elliott MP, in attendance were Mr Phil Donato MP, Assistant Commissioner Peter McKechnie, Cabonne Mayor Kevin Beatty, Canobolas Zone Manager Superintendent David Hoadley and Zone Administration Officer Jenifer Bucknell.

Cumnock Captain Norm McKenzie proudly accepted the new keys and plaque.

The plaque will be placed on a large local boulder at the front of the station for all to see.

Many Long Service awards were also presented on the day. Congratulations to all our worthy volunteers, you are very much appreciated.

The new station consists of 4 double depth tanks bays which will house the existing 4 Cumnock Tankers, plus 1 Cat 6 Water Carrier, it will also provide a store area when required.

There is a large Multi Function area with a kitchen and plenty of space for training and meetings. A full access bathroom, a second toilet and a separate large locked storeroom.

The new station proudly sits beside the old Cumnock Station, which will become the Cumnock Men's Shed.
