Riley Elms Nepal adventure
Published Date: 20 Nov 2017
Summary
One of our young volunteers is having quite the adventure.
Lidster Brigade member Riley Elms is currently experiencing a different version of ‘schoolies’ as he visits Nepal as part of the ‘Alternative Schoolies’ programme organised by the Rotary Club of Orange Daybreak.
Riley is one of approximately 30 Orange students, who have recently completed their HSC, participating in a schedule of community service, trekking and supporting remote communities affected by the 2015 earthquake.
The group’s activities include assisting with vision testing of local residents by optometrists, painting rebuilt schools, Dream Cricket (for people with disabilities) a three day trek in the mountains and of course experiencing a whole new culture.
