Clifton Grove Ophir brigade senior deputy captain Glen Foley-Gallagher said the day would be a joint effort between his brigade, Orange, Orange-Molong, North West, Lucknow-Summer Hill Creek and Springside.

"Rather than having little individual ones, which might get a handful of people, we decided to go for a more high profile spot," he said.

The brigades will have their trucks and even a helicopter on display, with a jumping castle, games and children's activities held throughout the day.

Adults will also be able to find out more information for this year's fire season, while munching on a sausage sizzle.

"We'll have tips on how to prepare the home themselves in the event of a fire emergency," Mr Foley-Gallagher said.

The event will be held from 10am until 3pm.

With water shortages due to drought set to add to any firefighting challenges this year, the RFS has already flagged an intention to step up hazard reduction to prevent blazes and create containment lines if a fire does break out.
