A fire is burning north of the Bruxner Highway along Paddys Flat Road and Bruxner Road approximatley 5km west of Tabulam. The alert level for this fire has been downgraded as fire activity has eased.

Current Situation

  • The fire burning near Paddys Flat Road and Bruxner Road has slowed, with firefighters gaining the upper hand.
  • The fire has burnt just over 80 hectares and is currently being controlled.
  • Firefighters will use tonight’s cooler conditions to identify containment lines and continue work to bring the fire under control.
  • Weather conditions over the coming days are expected to be more favourable, with moderate fire danger forecast.

  • Residents in the Paddys Flat Road and Bruxner Road should stay alert and monitor your surroundings.
  • If you stayed to defend your property monitor both inside and outside for small fires and burning embers.
  • Be careful outdoors after the fire has passed as trees can be unstable and fall.

  • If the fire impacts, seek shelter in a solid structure such as a house to protect yourself from the heat of the fire.
  • Bring pets indoors and restrain them, close all doors and windows and turn off air conditioners, keep water running if possible.
  • Shelter in a room on the other side of the building from the approaching fire, and one that has water and a clear exit out of the house.
  • Monitor both inside and outside for small fires and burning embers and turn sprinklers on if you have them.
  • Be careful outdoors after the fire has passed as trees can be unstable and fall.
