Bush Fire Danger Period commences for seven LGAs
Published Date: 31 Jul 2015
Summary
Saturday 1 August 2015 marks the start of the 2015-16 bush fire period for seven local government areas in the north of NSW.
These areas will now require a fire permit - Armidale Dumaresq, Guyra, Glen Innes Severn, Inverell, Tenterfield, Uralla, Walcha.
A Fire Permit is required for burning activities during the Bush Fire Danger Period and helps to ensure fire is used safely, minimising the danger to you, your property and the community.
The key things to remember:
- You need a fire permit during the Bush Fire Danger Period.
- Just because it's the Bush Fire Danger Period doesn't mean you can't use fire - but there are restrictions to ensure fire is used safely.
- Getting a permit is free and easy. Contact your local Fire Control Centre.
- There are heavy penalties if you don't follow restrictions or rules.
