Bundeena Brigade celebrates 75 years protecting the community

Summary

Member for Heathcote Mr Lee Evans and NSW Rural Fire Service (NSW RFS) Assistant Commissioner Stuart Midgley today congratulated the volunteers of the Bundeena Rural Fire Brigade on their 75th Anniversary at a special celebration in Bundeena.

Mr Evans said it was a great honour to be celebrating 75 years of community service.

“Thank you to the volunteers and also their families and loved ones for their support,” Mr Evans said.

“The Bundeena Brigade remains a strong establishment in the community and I know these volunteers will continue to serve their local community and the broader community of NSW for many years to come.

Assistant Commissioner Midgley said that local volunteers have been serving the Sutherland Shire area since the early 1940s.

“From its humble beginnings, we have watched the Bundeena Brigade grow into the professional and dedicated firefighting service we are celebrating today,” Assistant Commissioner Midgley said.

“Established in 1942, the Bundeena Rural Fire Brigade has a strong history of working tirelessly to attend emergencies both locally and further afield when needed.

“The Brigade attends incidents ranging from structure fires, motor vehicle accidents and bush fires, to assisting other emergency services with storm damage and searches in the Royal National Park.

“Whether it is responding to local incidents, across NSW or assisting interstate, the Bundeena Brigade is always ready to lend a hand to protect the community.

“The Brigade should be proud of their history and excited about their future.

“It is pleasing to see such a motivated, dedicated and professional group of men and women that make up the Bundeena Brigade.”
