Celebration for Bunnaloo Brigade members

Summary

The NSW Rural Fire Service (NSW RFS) will tonight recognise the dedication and achievement of volunteers from the Bunnaloo Brigade with the presentation of long service awards.

NSW RFS South Western Area Manager People and Business, Kirstie Muntz, will join guests at the Bunnaloo Recreation Reserve to present awards to 11 volunteers who have together given a total of more than 260 years of service to the community.

“Some of the members being recognised with long service awards have provided up to 40 years of dedicated service to the local community,” Ms Muntz said.

“While all are congratulated, special mention is given to Robert Caldwell and John Pocklington on their respective 43 and 41 years of service.

“Robert followed his father’s footsteps and joined the Service at age 18, holding a number of roles including Deputy Captain and remains a well-respected member of the brigade and Bunnaloo community.

“John also joined the brigade as a teenager in 1976 and is still a very active member of both the Bunnaloo and the Mid Murray Support Brigade, and also part of the Aviation section.

“I would like to take this time to praise all our volunteers for their ongoing efforts each and every day, particularly when dealing with emergencies here in the Mid Murray Zone.

“We also thank the family, friends, employers and colleagues of all NSW RFS volunteers. We know it takes their ongoing support and patience to assist and enable our volunteers to do what they do to save lives and property.”
