Celebration for Trinity Anglican College graduating cadets

Summary

Twenty-two students from Trinity Anglican College in Thurgoona today celebrated their successful completion of the NSW Rural Fire Service (NSW RFS) Secondary Schools Cadet Program.

NSW RFS District Manager Superintendent Patrick Westwood congratulated the graduating students for their dedication and enthusiasm throughout the 10 week course.

“As well as examining fire behaviour, the participants have learned essential fire safety techniques and gained an appreciation of the work that emergency services do every day across the state,” Superintendent Westwood said.

“The course teaches young people about the important contribution firefighters make to the local community, provides them with firefighting skills and fire behaviour knowledge and instills values such as teamwork, leadership and confidence.”

Superintendent Westwood thanked Trinity Anglican College for offering the NSW RFS Secondary Schools Cadet Program to its students for the second time.

“It is fantastic to see such genuine enthusiasm for this program and I would like to thank school Principal Justin Beckett for their support,” Superintendent Westwood said.

“I would also like to thank the Southern Border Team volunteers and staff who helped deliver the program to the students.

"NSW RFS members enjoy working with schools and communities to ensure that everyone is as well prepared as possible for the very real threat of fire and the Service is proud to pass on the ideals of community service, dedication and teamwork to the next generation.”
