Charmhaven Rural Fire Brigade celebrates 60 years service to the community

Summary

The Charmhaven Rural Fire Brigade has proudly protected the local community since it formed in 1956. Today members gathered to celebrate a milestone anniversary.

The Hon Natasha Maclaren-Jones MLC, Government Whip said it is a great honour to be celebrating 60 years of community service.

“We’d like to say a sincere thank you to the volunteers and also their families and loved ones for their support,” Ms Maclaren-Jones said.

“I know these volunteers will continue to serve their local community for many years to come.

“The Charmhaven Brigade remains a strong establishment in the community. In recent times that has been reflected by their growing membership numbers and strong community engagement.”

NSW RFS Commissioner Fitzsimmons said Charmhaven Brigade members use their extensive experience and firefighting skill in both their local districts and further afield.

“The Brigade attends an average of 165 incidents a year, ranging from structure fires, motor vehicle accidents and bush fires, to assisting other emergency services with searches and storm damage.

“Most notably, the Brigade recently attended the Rutley’s Road fire and assisted with Section 44 campaigns around Coonabarabran and in Victoria.

“Whether it is responding to local incidents across NSW or interstate, the Charmhaven Brigade are always ready to lend a hand to protect the community.

“The Brigade should be proud of their history and excited about their future.

“It is pleasing to see such a motivated, dedicated and professional group of men and women that make up the Charmhaven Brigade.”
