Published Date: 01 Aug 2011
Summary
Nine students from Condobolin High School have been presented with graduation certificates today after successfully completing the NSW Rural Fire Service (NSW RFS) Secondary Schools Cadet Program.
Region West Community Safety Manager Simon Curry congratulated the students, describing them as exceptional representatives of their school and their local community.
Mr Curry presented the cadets with their graduation certificates during a ceremony at Condobolin High School.
"These nine young people have not only shown great commitment and team work during the program but they have also learnt valuable lessons about fire safety" Mr Curry said.
"It is pleasing to see that in its second year the program was once again popular at the Condobolin High School and I am sure we will see the program succeed into the future."
"I would like to extend a special thanks to the local NSW RFS staff and volunteers who continue to share their skills and knowledge with these cadets," Mr Curry said.
Mr Curry said more than 3,000 students across the state had successfully completed the NSW RFS Secondary Schools Cadet Program since its launch six years ago.
"These nine students have been given an insight into the NSW RFS ideals of community service, dedication and team work, along with the rewards of volunteering, and I'm pleased to hear many of these graduates intend to build on their new skills by joining their local brigade."
