Congratulations for graduating Bowral High School cadets

NSW RFS Southern Highlands Team Manager Superintendent Martin Surrey congratulated the graduating students for their dedication and enthusiasm throughout the 10 week course.

“As well as examining fire behaviour, the participants have learned essential fire safety techniques and gained an appreciation of the work that emergency services do every day across the state,” Superintendent Surrey said.

“The course teaches young people about the important contribution firefighters make to the local community, provides them with firefighting skills and fire behaviour knowledge and instills values such as teamwork, leadership and confidence.”

Superintendent Surrey thanked Bowral High School for offering the NSW RFS Secondary Schools Cadet Program to its students.

“It is fantastic to see such genuine enthusiasm for this program and I would like to thank school Principal Jason Conroy for their support,” Superintendent Surrey said.

“I would also like to thank the Southern Highlands Team volunteers and staff who helped deliver the program to the students.

"NSW RFS members enjoy working with schools and communities to ensure that everyone is as well prepared as possible for the very real threat of fire and the Service is proud to pass on the ideals of community service, dedication and teamwork to the next generation.”
