Eight RFS members recognised in Australia Day Honours

Eight members of the Rural Fire Service (RFS) have been awarded the Australian Fire Service Medal (AFSM) in the Australia Day Honours, celebrating their outstanding dedication and exemplary service to their communities.
The AFSM has recognised individuals who have demonstrated distinguished service and unwavering commitment as members of Australian fire services since its inception in 1988.
Commissioner of the RFS, Rob Rogers AFSM praised the recipients, highlighting their significant contributions to safeguarding the state.
“These eight RFS members embody the spirit of service and dedication that defines our organisation,” Commissioner Rogers said.
“Their achievements over hundreds of years of combined service are remarkable, from leading teams and mentoring future leaders to their exceptional coordination and response during critical emergencies, such as the 2019/20 Black Summer fire season.”
Commissioner Rogers also acknowledged the altruistic nature of the RFS community.
“While they don’t seek praise, our members serve because they care about their communities. It is fitting to honour their tireless commitment and the difference they make in people’s lives.
“We are incredibly proud of these individuals’ contributions.”
The RFS recipients are:
- Group Captain Scott Alexander Campbell, Lawrence Rural Fire Brigade (Clarence Valley)
- Deputy Captain Samuel Stuart Clark AM, Killara Rural Fire Brigade (Hornsby/Ku-ring-gai)
- Group Captain Anthony Clough, Wantabadgery Rural Fire Brigade (Riverina)
- Deputy Captain Robert James Conroy, Coal and Candle Rural Fire Brigade (Northern Beaches)
- Deputy Captain Jennifer Ann Farrell, Matcham-Holgate Rural Fire Brigade (Central Coast)
- Group Captain John Duncan Hedley, Bulga Rural Fire Brigade (Hunter Valley)
- Group Captain Wayne Robert Keel, Halls Creek Rural Fire Brigade (Tamworth)
- Captain Robyn Leslie Reynolds, Pambula Rural Fire Brigade (Far South Coast)
