Far West Team volunteers praised as brigades receive new trucks

Volunteers from the Far West Team have been given a boost with new vehicles being formally handed over to three Brigades.
New South Wales Rural Fire Service (NSW RFS) Assistant Commissioner Steve Yorke presented the keys to five fire trucks to the Koonenberry, Milparinka and Silverton Rural Fire Brigades worth over $266,000.
“We are committed to providing volunteer firefighters with the equipment they need to carry out the important work they do in protecting their local communities from fire,” Assistant Commissioner Yorke said.
“These fire trucks will continue to keep local brigades in a strong position to fight fires and respond to other incidents like motor vehicle accidents and land searches.”
Assistant Commissioner Yorke presented two new vehicles to the Silverton Brigade, two to the Koonenberry Brigade and one additional vehicle was handed over to the Milparinka Brigade.
"These new vehicles are replacing older style models, allowing firefighters to continue providing a high level of emergency service to residents,” Assistant Commissioner Yorke said.
"These new fire tankers will enable the brigades to continue their outstanding work and I would personally like to congratulate everybody on their ongoing hard work and professionalism.
“The NSW RFS is committed to providing volunteer firefighters with the equipment they need to carry out the important work they do to protect their local communities from fire.”
