Fire Danger Rating for Riverina revised to CATASTROPHIC

Revised observations and forecasts from the Bureau of Meteorology show the Northern and
Eastern Riverina and southern parts of the Lower Central West Plains are expected to reach
Catastrophic fire danger levels this afternoon ahead of a southerly change.
 

The Catastrophic fire danger conditions are likely to remain for several hours ahead of the
change.

People in these areas should avoid bushland areas and ensure they know what to do if a fire
threatens their area.

This is in addition to the Illawarra/Shoalhaven and Southern Ranges areas which are also
under a Catastrophic fire danger rating.

There are currently more than 100 bush and grass fires burning across NSW.
