Funeral of the late David Black

Summary

On behalf of Rebal Ag - The family of the late David Black have extended their thanks to the many friends, colleagues and well-wishers for all the support they have received since David's tragic death while fighting fires near Ulladulla on the 24

David was killed when the aircraft he was flying crashed in rugged terrain while conducting firebombing operations. An Australian Transport Safety Bureau investigation into the crash is currently underway.

David was a Director and Chief Pilot of Rebel Ag, an aerial application company based in Trangie, NSW.

Rebel Ag took the precaution of immediately and voluntarily grounding all similar aircraft in their fleet while the ATSB investigation proceeds. Other operators of similar aircraft, which are very limited in number, have taken similar action.

Rebel Ag has advised its clients that it remains committed to servicing their aerial application needs and arrangements are in place to ensure the company continues to provide its usual services.

David's family also thanked the Rural Fire Service for their understanding and support in this difficult time.

A very large funeral for David was held in Forbes, NSW, and was attended by family, friends and professional colleagues from across Australia.

David was a loving husband and father, son and brother and his loss will be felt across the aviation and farming communities. He is survived by his wife Julie and their three young children.
