Krawaree Brigade welcomes significant station expansion

Summary

Bush fire fighters on the Southern Tablelands of NSW have greater capability in their work to protect people and property, following the official opening of extensions to Krawaree Rural Fire Brigade.

NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) Assistant Commissioner Viki Campbell was joined by special guests, including councillors from Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council and brigade members, at a ceremony to mark the occasion.

“More than $65,000 has been invested in the construction of a new facility which can be used for meetings, training sessions, workshops and preparations during operational activity,” Assistant Commissioner Campbell said.

“The Krawaree Brigade station, which co-exists with Gundillion Community Hall, is a great asset to the close-knit community, providing a space for its 60 volunteer members and others to utilise on a regular basis, not just when emergencies arise.

“The RFS is committed to providing volunteer firefighters with the equipment and facilities they need to carry out the important work of protecting their local communities from fire and helping at various other emergencies.”

Assistant Commissioner Campbell congratulated Krawaree Rural Fire Brigade members for their ongoing hard work and dedication.

“These men and women remain on-hand 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and we should be extremely proud and grateful for their contribution, particularly when dealing with emergencies here in the Lake George District,” she said.

“We also thank the family, friends, employers and colleagues of all RFS volunteers. We know it takes their ongoing support and patience to assist and enable our volunteers to do what they do to save lives and protect property.”
