NSW RFS volunteers on show at the Easter Show

Summary

NSW Rural Fire Service (NSW RFS) volunteers across the state will bring a taste of the bush
to the city during the Sydney Royal Easter Show.

NSW RFS volunteers will be involved in a number of events at the Show, which runs from
Thursday 14 April to Wednesday 27 April at the Sydney Showgrounds.
"NSW RFS members are an important part of communities right across the State,"
Commissioner Fitzsimmons said.
"The Sydney Royal Easter Show provides an opportunity for them to showcase some of their
work.
"It's also a chance for the community to thank our hard working, professional and dedicated
men and women for their work, performed every day across NSW."
During the Show, volunteers from the Northern Tablelands, Albury, Taree and Macarthur
areas will be taking part in the Young Farmer Challenge, which involves a firefighting exercise.
"The NSW RFS has four teams participating in the event, which sees young farmers
competing in a variety of rural-based skills, including firefighting and assembling water pumps.
"We will also be taking part in the twice-daily parade of floats and street entertainers around
the Showgrounds, giving people a chance to cheer on our volunteers.
"Showgoers will also see how far our tankers and equipment have come over the years, with a
new bush fire tanker and a fully restored 1942 Chevrolet Blitz tanker taking part.
"The Sydney Royal Easter Show is one of the biggest annual events in Sydney and is all about
the city connecting with rural communities.
"Rural communities are at the heart of the NSW RFS and I encourage anyone, whether you're
from the city or the country, to show your support for our men and women who support our
communities every day."
