Orange Christian School cadets celebrate graduation

Rick Colless MLC congratulated the graduating students for their dedication and enthusiasm throughout the 10-week course.

“As well as examining fire behaviour, the participants have learned essential fire safety techniques and gained an appreciation of the work that emergency services do every day across the state,” Mr Colless said.

“The course teaches young people about the important contribution firefighters make to the local community, provides them with firefighting skills and fire behaviour knowledge, and instils values such as teamwork, leadership and confidence.

“Congratulations to each and every graduate. All of your hard work has paid off, and I thank you for choosing to take part in this rewarding program.”

NSW RFS District Manager Superintendent David Hoadley thanked Orange Christian School for offering the NSW RFS Secondary Schools Cadet Program to its students for the seventh time.

“It is fantastic to see such genuine enthusiasm for this program and I would like to thank school Principal Melissa Brown for their support,” Superintendent Hoadley said.

“I would also like to thank the fourteen Canobolas Zone volunteers and staff who helped deliver the program to the students.

“NSW RFS members enjoy working with schools and communities to ensure that everyone is as well prepared as possible for the very real threat of fire.

“We are proud of this program, and the opportunity to share and celebrate the ideals of community service, dedication and teamwork alongside the next generation.”
