Praise for Mid Coast District volunteer firefighters

Summary

Veteran volunteers from the Mid Coast District were today honoured by the NSW Rural Fire Service (NSW RFS) for their ongoing commitment to the local community.

NSW RFS Assistant Commissioner Jason Heffernan presented 24 Long Service Medals and seven National Medals to 31 volunteers.

Seven volunteers were honoured for providing more than 30 years of dedicated service to their Brigades and the local community.

"In total, these medal recipients have accumulated an impressive 660 years of service between them," Assistant Commissioner Heffernan said.

"Each and every one of these volunteers are worthy of our most sincere thanks and I would like to personally commend them, not only for their commitment to the Service, but also to their community.

"The hard work and professionalism of all Mid Coast District volunteers does not go unnoticed and this is a great opportunity for the broader community to express their gratitude and say thank you."

Assistant Commissioner Heffernan said seven members being awarded the National Medal was testament to their ongoing outstanding commitment to the local community and the Service.

National Medals are presented to NSW RFS members who go above and beyond, in recognition of their years of diligent service.

"These volunteers dedicate themselves to providing a vital service to the community and these medals are a fitting token of our appreciation," Assistant Commissioner Heffernan said.

"It is an absolute honour to present these awards and to take a moment in which we can reflect upon the outstanding achievements of these members.

"I would like to take this time to praise all our volunteers for their ongoing efforts each and every day, particularly when dealing with emergencies in the Mid Coast District."
