Region West Group Officer Forum

Summary

Seventy-Five NSW Rural Fire Services (NSW RFS) volunteers and staff throughout Region West will be attending the Region West Group Officers forum in West Wyalong to discuss important topics leading up to the Bush Fire Season.

NSW RFS Assistant Commissioner Dominic Lane, Director Regional Services will officially open the conference on Friday afternoon.

During the forum, important presentations on topics such as command control and communications, importance of public information and fire analysis will be delivered to the participants followed by an opportunity for members to raise matters they would like discussed.

A dinner for forum attendees will also be held on Friday night.

The forum is being held at the West Wyalong Country Club, Tallimba Road, West Wyalong, commencing on the afternoon of Friday 13 July, concluding after lunch on Saturday 14 July.

"Forums like these are important ahead of the bush fire danger period to ensure we are all prepared to deal with the upcoming season" said Assistant Commissioner Lane.

"With recent rain we have seen significantly increased grass and crop growth right across NSW.

"There should be absolutely no complacency about the risk of fires this season. It will only take a short period of warm, dry and windy conditions to dry out ground fuels and make them very susceptible to bush and grass fires" Assistant Commissioner Lane said.

"NSW RFS volunteers all around the state are committed to protecting their communities from fire and other emergencies and are meeting at this forum to discuss important issues ahead of what could be a challenging fire season" concluded Assistant Commissioner Lane.
