Station upgrade for Smiths Road Rural Fire Brigade

Summary

NSW Rural Fire Service (NSW RFS) Superintendent Nick Turner has congratulated members of the Smiths Road Rural Fire brigade on the official opening of their new station extensions.

Superintendent Turner said the $70,000 enhancement includes additional space for the brigade's fire truck and expansion to the attached community hall.

"The NSW RFS is committed to providing its members with the equipment and facilities required in order to continue their important work.

"The enhancement of this station is of huge benefit to both the Smiths Road Rural Fire brigade and the wider community as it will be a base for training sessions as well as community events.

"The extension of the station and attached hall is a demonstration of the ongoing support of the local brigade and its volunteers within the community.

"Smiths Road Rural Fire Brigade has been at its current location since 2004 protecting the area from bush or grass fires, as well as assisting at road accidents or other emergencies.

"Each and every day the members selflessly give up their time to come to the assistance of others," Superintendent Turner said.
