Wade High School welcomes its newest cadet firefighters

Summary

Eleven students from Wade High School today celebrated their successful completion of the NSW Rural Fire Service (NSW RFS) Secondary Schools Cadet Program.

NSW RFS MIA District manager Superintendent Kevin Adams congratulated the graduating students for their dedication and enthusiasm throughout the 10 week course.

“As well as examining fire behaviour, the students have learned essential fire safety techniques and gained an appreciation of the work that emergency services do every day across the state,” Superintendent Adams said.

“The course teaches young people about the important contribution firefighters make to the local community, provides them with firefighting skills and fire behaviour knowledge and instills values such as teamwork, leadership and confidence.”

Superintendent Adams thanked Wade High School for offering the NSW RFS Secondary Schools Cadet Program to its students for a third year.

“It is fantastic to see such genuine enthusiasm for this program and I would like to thank Principal Johanna Brain and her staff for their ongoing support,” Superintendent Adams said.

“I would also like to thank the MIA District volunteers and staff who helped deliver the program under the direction of cadet coordinator Stephen Kada.

"NSW RFS members enjoy working with schools and communities to ensure that everyone is as well prepared as possible for the very real threat of fire and the Service is proud to pass on the ideals of community service, dedication and teamwork to the next generation.”
