Bush Fire Information Line Team Leader
Role Description
Scope
The Bush Fire Information Line Team Leader (BFILTL) is responsible for all Bush Fire Information Line Operators (BFILOs) giving information by telephone through the Bush Fire Information Line (BFIL) when activated.
Fundamental Protocols underpin the actions of all NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) members and must be adhered to at all times. They outline the Principles of being an RFS member and provide guidance on conduct to support the safety and wellbeing of members.
Key Accountabilities
- Liaises through the Bush Fire Information Line Coordinator (BFILC) to maintain situational awareness on major fires, and ensure that BFILOs have adequate information needed to deal with public enquiries through the BFIL.
- Recommends the amendment or creation of alerts and warnings information on the public website to ensure the information meets the needs of the callers.
- Monitors call rates against current and projected staffing levels and makes recommendations to the BFILC.
- Manages staff numbers and breaks to ensure that sufficient staff remain on duty at all times.
- Ensures that incident intelligence received through the BFIL is disseminated between BFILOs and the State Operations Centre (OpsCen), through the BFILC.
- Provides information to the BFILC to ensure that briefings can be supplied to the OpsCen as required by the State Operations Controller (SOC).
Special Considerations
- The BFILTL reports to the BFILC.
- The BFILOs report to this position.
