Redundancy Dispatch Procedures

Strategic

Scope

This Operational Guideline provides guidance on the redundancy dispatch procedures undertaken by the State Air Desk (SAD).

Fundamental Protocols underpin the actions of all RFS members and must be adhered to at all times. They outline the Principles of being an RFS member and provide guidance on conduct to support the safety and wellbeing of members.

Guiding Principles

  • The SAD provides advice, dispatch services, and logistical support in response to a request for aviation resource/s in accordance with availability information and contractual arrangements in place (through the National Aerial Firefighting (NAFC) contracts or Call When Needed Arrangements (CWN)).
  • All dispatching of aviation resources will be undertaken by a person performing SAD duties in accordance with the SAD Procedures.
  • In the event of a failure of ARENA, the dispatch procedures in the RFS OPG - Dispatch of Aviation Resources still apply, however the following steps are to be undertaken:
    • Utilise the data from TracPlus to verify the location and/or allocation of resources;
    • Refer to the Contract and CWN listing to verify the next available resource, dependent upon an immediate or planned tasking;
    • Complete a Manual Aircraft Dispatch Form;
    • Upload a copy of the Manual Aircraft Dispatch Form to Incident Control online (ICON);
    • Email the Manual Aircraft Dispatch Form to the Operator; and
    • Advise State Duty Operations Officer (SDOO) of the failure of the ARENA system.
  • Once ARENA is back up and fully functional, enter all manual dispatches into ARENA.
