The Rotary Club of Dubbo South is sponsoring the free, two-day workshop Women with Flair.

It will run on August 8 and 9, from 9am to 3pm, at the Wongarbon Rural Fire Brigade Station.

The project has been based around Firey Women, a successful South Australian Country Fire Service program.

Last year the Orana team received funding to trial a similar program with local success.

Kennedy Tourle NSW RFS Orana Team Community Safety Officer said it is important to educate women and give them confidence going into bush fire season.

"The aim of the program is to target, educate and empower rural women by providing them bush fire awareness, knowledge, skills and confidence," she said.

"It is not necessarily giving women the ability to stay and defend their property, but providing information so they can make an informed decision for the safety of themselves and their family."
