Samuels Trail Fire (Dubbo LGA

Summary

A bush fire is burning in the Samuels Trial area in the Goonoo Forest, approximately 30km north east of Dubbo. The fire is currently 260 hectares in size

The fire is burning near the Mendoran Rd in the Goonoo National Park.

Firefighters from the NSW RFS and NPWS are working to slow the spread of the fire. They are being supported by graders/dozers and water bombing aircraft.

The Mendoran Rd is closed at Brockelhurst and Mendoran. The Mogriguy Forest Rd and Old Mendoran Rd are also closed. The Golden Highway and Newell Highway remain open.

The public are advised to stay away from the area.

25-10-2019 The night crews put in a big night last night to blackout the fire edge. A big effort was put into identifying candling trees and hot spots.


Crews from RFS and National Parks along with aviation and heavy plant are on heighten preparedness in anticipation of predicted bad weather today.

People in the Goonoo, Ballimore and Elong Elong areas are reminded to make sure they have their Bush Fire Plan up to date as well checking the Fires Near me App on their phones.

We would also like to thank the employers of our volunteers for allowing their staff,time off to deal with this fire.

24-10-2019 A HUGE effort from NP and RFS Crews, Dubbo Regional Council staff as well as Heavy Plant and Aviation contractors to pull up this fire in the Goonoo NP. Crews are working hard this afternoon and again this evening to get as much of this fire blacked out before expected poor fire weather tomorrow.
