Wuuluman Fire area being monitored

Summary

The fire that hit the Wuuluman district late last week is under control but still being monitored, Orana Rural Fire Service (RFS) Superintendent Lyndon Wieland said.

Superintendent Wieland said the RFS is still actively patrolling the region.

“We’re finding hot spots in the area and making sure they’re not any danger – logs, grass, those sorts of things.

“It’s still classed under Section 44, so we’ll revisit that classification hopefully tomorrow.” 

Superintendent Wieland said the RFS will be working with land holders in the area. 

“If we get the rains that have been predicted – it will help the immediate situation.

“If we get dry storms and not much rain, then we’ll have to be more careful.”
