Congratulations to graduating St Patrick’s Parish School cadets

Summary

Twenty-five students from the St Patrick’s Parish School in Cooma celebrated their graduation from the RFS Secondary School Cadet Program today.

RFS Inspector Rein Peet congratulated the graduating students for their dedication and enthusiasm throughout the course.

“As well as examining fire behaviour, the participants have learned essential fire safety techniques and gained an appreciation of the work emergency services do every day across the state,” Inspector Peet said.

“The course teaches young people about the important contribution volunteer firefighters make to the local community, provides them with firefighting skills and knowledge, and instils values such as teamwork, leadership and confidence.

“Congratulations to each and every graduate. All your hard work has paid off, and I thank you for choosing to take part in this rewarding program.”

Inspector Peet thanked St Patrick’s Parish School for offering the RFS Secondary School Cadet Program to its students for the 10th time.

“It is fantastic to see such genuine enthusiasm for this program and I would like to thank the school for its support,” Inspector Peet said.

“I would also like to thank the Monaro RFS volunteers and staff who helped deliver the program to the students.

“RFS members enjoy working with schools and communities to ensure that everyone is as well prepared as possible for the very real threat of fire.

“We are proud of this program, and the opportunity to share and celebrate the ideals of community service, dedication and teamwork alongside the next generation.”
