declared on 20 October 2013 to assist firefighting efforts in the recent bush fires.
The declaration focused on the safety of the community, giving emergency services the ability
to make decisions and take actions in the interest of protecting communities.
NSW Rural Fire Service Commissioner Shane Fitzsimmons thanked the community for their
cooperation during this difficult period. He also reminded the public of the need to remain
vigilant and be prepared throughout the fire season.
