This section of the website is designed to help the media quickly locate information on the RFS, as well as providing the public with current incident updates and photos.
Accurate, timely and objective information is vital in fire situations to ensure fire affected communities have appropriate information to base decisions on. The RFS uses mediums such as radio, television and this website as the most timely ways in which to communicate with the public during these times.
Communicating with the media is one method the RFS uses to update communities on fires and inform communities about how to prepare for fire.
Our relationship with the media is vital, particularly in order to provide fire safety information to those affected by fire.
For media inquiries during office hours, or to contact the State Duty Media Officer for major incidents outside of business hours, call (02) 9898 1855.
Journalists can now subscribe to RFS Statewide media releases by emailing media@rfs.nsw.gov.au, providing full contact details.
