Bushfire danger period: Canobolas records one of the busiest seasons

THOUSANDS of lightning strikes during the last few months have resulted in one of the busiest bushfire danger periods on record for volunteer firefighters in the Canobolas district.

Police investigating cause of Bloomfield fire as blaze under control

Police are investigating the cause of a 25-hectare bushfire near Orange hospital on Sunday night.

Bloomfield Fire

Two helicopters were brought in to help about 20 fire crews battle a fire which burnt 30 hectares of grass land at the rear of the Bloomfield and Orange hospital complexes on Sunday afternoon.

Over $5000 of fuel, equipment stolen from firefighters in Ophir

Over $5000 worth of fuel and equipment has been stolen from a Rural Fire Service station over the weekend.
